Costa Rica has announced the officialization of the National System for Individual Identification and Traceability of Cattle. Costa Rica will use the Trazar-Agro platform, supported by the International Regional Organization for Agricultural Health (OIRSA), to store crucial information on the registration and controls of farms and producers. INDER will contribute with the financing for the necessary equipment, including 170,000 earrings, facilitating the inclusion of micro and small livestock farmers in this modernization process. The implementation of the system includes collaboration between the State, through MAG and SENASA, and productive organizations, offering advice and training. An Official Individual Identification Device (DIIO) with visual and electronic components will be introduced for the registration of bovines, starting six months after the entry into force of the corresponding Regulation.
