Description

This document discusses the possible effect of information and communication technologies (ICT) on rural poverty and agriculture, identifying opportunities and barriers so that small producers and rural territories can participate in the benefits of these frontier innovations. The need for public policies is raised to avoid the exclusion of rural households, farmers and workers, from the benefits that ICT generate in the food system. It is proposed that expanding the availability and use of ICT in the rural sector is consistent with a public policy approach with a territorial approach that seeks to support productive transformation that allows alleviating poverty and expanding the well-being of rural households.
