Description

The report highlights the urgency of climate action to protect forests in indigenous and tribal territories in Latin America, which are home to around a third of the continent's forests and 14% of the carbon stored in the world's tropical forests. Investments and policies are proposed based on effective approaches from recent decades, aimed at strengthening territorial rights, compensating indigenous communities for environmental services, facilitating community forest management, revitalizing traditional cultures, and strengthening territorial governance and indigenous organizations. . These measures would not only reduce carbon emissions, but also provide other significant environmental and social benefits.
