Gaps, challenges and opportunities in water and gender in Latin America and the Caribbean

The document examines the slow evolution of the gender perspective in water policies in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), highlighting that despite the evidence of discrimination against women and girls in the access and use of water, the aspects of gender are not widely integrated into water management plans and policies. The region's policies are analyzed in relation to four main gaps identified in the literature: water and sanitation access and infrastructure, agricultural productivity, water management and collection, and governance and participation.
