Description

In recent decades, rural spaces have experienced significant changes in Latin America and the Caribbean, moving away from traditional agricultural activity and showing greater interaction with urban environments. However, these transformations have been underestimated in statistics and public policies due to static and dichotomous approaches. This study proposes new methodologies to define and characterize rurality, recognizing its diversity and offering opportunities for innovative rural development policies that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
