Description

This report explores how Latin America and the Caribbean can improve socioeconomic and development outcomes while achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Specifically, they present SiSeVamos, a code-based decarbonization modeling toolkit. open that evaluates the costs, benefits and emissions reductions across the economy. It is concluded that maximizing actions could achieve net-zero emissions in the region by 2050 and $2.7 trillion in net benefits compared to more traditional development. Benefits include huge fuel cost savings; avoided costs from reduced air pollution, congestion and car accidents; and the value of forest ecosystem services.
