Description

Terrestrial biodiversity is seriously threatened by an increasing rate of deforestation. This study highlights the role that financial incentives can play in stimulating local people to participate in biodiversity conservation. A common approach to providing financial compensation is to estimate the opportunity costs arising from adopting land-use practices favorable to conservation.
