Description
The Ministers of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay in the framework of the 12th Ministerial Conference of the World Health Organization Trade (WTO) expressed their support for a rules-based, open and non-discriminatory multilateral trading system, with the WTO as its central axis. In addition, they highlighted the importance of international trade for food security and nutrition, pointing out current challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, armed conflicts, climate change and natural disasters, which affect price volatility and the functioning of value chains. They also expressed concern about the protectionist measures adopted in some international markets and advocated for solutions based on multilateral rules that are efficient and fair. . The declaration concludes with a commitment to work together to implement existing agreements and pursue reforms to achieve open and sustainable agricultural markets.
