Description

Sanctions imposed on Russia and Belarus by the European Union, the United States and other countries following the invasion of Ukraine included restrictions in sectors such as banking, trade and technology. These measures were in addition to previous sanctions for the annexation of Crimea and human rights violations. The current objective is to preserve the agricultural sector to avoid impacts on global food security, as both countries are important in the production and export of food and fertilizers. While some agricultural exports have recovered after the war, others have experienced slowdowns. This article analyzes how these sanctions have affected exports in this sector.
