20/11/2021
Description
In recent years, several major causal factors have diverted the world from the path to ending global hunger and malnutrition in all its forms by 2030. Difficulties have increased in the aftermath of the HIV/AIDS-19 pandemic and the measures to contain it. This report presents the first global assessment of food insecurity and malnutrition by 2020 and provides indications of what hunger may look like by 2030 given the complications arising from the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It also presents new estimates of the cost and affordability of healthy diets, providing an important link between food security and nutrition indicators and trend analysis. Overall, the report highlights the need for further reflection on how best to address the global food security and nutrition situation.
