Description
Today's food and agricultural systems have been successful in supplying large volumes of food to world markets. However, resource-intensive agricultural systems with high external input have led to massive deforestation, water scarcity, biodiversity loss, soil depletion and high levels of greenhouse gas emissions. Despite considerable progress in recent years, hunger and extreme poverty remain key global challenges. Even where poverty has been reduced, widespread inequalities persist, making poverty eradication difficult.
