Description

The Continental Alliance for Food Security and Sustainable Development in the Americas focuses on promoting collective action by the countries of the region to strengthen agriculture and agrifood systems. Its objective is to achieve more resilient, inclusive, sustainable, profitable and competitive systems. Collaboration involves countries working together to address common challenges, develop state capacities and strengthen the regional position in agriculture at the global level. The ministries and secretariats of agriculture of the Americas, supported by IICA and other international agencies, have been developing a process to strengthen agrifood systems in the region, contributing to global food security and addressing the climate crisis. This process has evolved over the course of several mandates of the Member States and has been highlighted at international conferences and summits.
