Description

To boost agrifood trade in the Americas and its contribution to food security and sustainable development, experts stress the importance of strengthening the multilateral trading system, avoiding restrictive rules, improving the exploitation of existing trade agreements and increasing regional trade. This is vital in a challenging global context with increasing protectionist measures. Emphasis is placed on collective action by countries and international cooperation, as well as the scientific basis of trade rules and coordination between sectors to eliminate trade barriers.
