Description

The bioeconomy is a strategy to generate new economic opportunities based on the wealth of natural capital, science and technology. In Colombia, the development of the bioeconomy model is expected to boost job creation, generate new bioenterprises and sustainable bioproducts, and contribute 10% of GDP by 2030. This guide aims to provide a step-by-step description of the main requirements, variables and business rules that financial institutions can follow to design specialized instruments to finance bioeconomy businesses. The guide defines how to identify bioeconomy projects and companies, establishing their characteristics, the strategic areas and sectors in which they operate, the applications they develop and the financing needs they have according to their state of development. The content of the guide is useful for banking entities adhering to the Green Protocol and interested in designing and improving instruments that contribute to expand the portfolio of green finance and support the sustainable development of the country.
