Latin America and the Caribbean was the region most affected by increased food insecurity during the 2020-2021 biennium. In the decade 2014-2023 LAC will experience lower total GDP growth than in the lost decade of the 1980s. Inflation has therefore emerged as a relevant challenge both globally and in LAC. Agri-food systems (aAS) have demonstrated their resilience, but have also revealed significant challenges and risks. This report presents an overview of the future and state of agrifood systems.
