Description

Is an interdisciplinary center created by the Getulio Vargas Foundation, with specialization in climate change, land use and biodiversity use. The mission of the Observatory is to produce applied knowledge, technical training and dissemination of information to assist the country in the transition to low carbon economy. FGV's "Bioeconomy Observatory" brings together the following units: the FGV Agro organization, an organ of the São Paulo School of Economics (FGV EESP), the São Paulo School of Law (DIREITO GV), the São Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV EAESP) and the Brazilian Institute of Economics (FGV IBRE). Among the Observatory's core competencies are the analysis of the carbon life cycle, significant in the direction of producing with attention to reducing carbon emissions and respecting biodiversity and human rights. In addition, productive financing, economic and environmental risk analysis, programming and spatial distribution of data, impact assessment of public policies, and regulation of the new green economy. The Observatory pays special attention to studies of the Brazilian Amazon and its particular challenges. The Observatory follows advances in the regional bioeconomy, and investigates ways to reconcile income and wealth generation with the preservation of the forest and its biodiversity.

The digital platform of the Observatory of Public Policies for Agrifood Systems (OPSAa) is at the service of the countries of the Americas as a meeting point for the exchange of knowledge and to promote the new generation of public policies that transform the agrifood systems of the hemisphere.
