Honduras declares a red alert in 140 municipalities due to drought

The Ministry of State in the Office of Risk Management and National Contingencies of Honduras declared a red alert, in an emergency, indefinitely, in 140 out of 298 municipalities. According to the latest report from the Center for Atmospheric, Oceanographic, and Seismic Studies (CENAOS), El Niño will continue "with impacts on rainfall" during June, July, and August, with an increase in temperatures and lack of access to water for human consumption in many municipalities of the country.
