Evolution of the use of biotechnology in the countries of the Southern Agricultural Council.

This report presents the evolution of the use of biotechnologies in the countries of the Southern Agricultural Council. The report addresses various issues, including the benefits of biotechnology and its potential as a tool for agricultural production in the region: biosafety in the environment and food security, both human and animal; new genetic improvement techniques; the consensual and coordinated positioning of the CAS in international forums, as well as the regional perspective on GMOs, joint actions carried out, the promotion of national and regional developments, the importance of coordinating the region's public institutions with a strategic vision and collaboration among the forum's member countries to strengthen regulatory capacities.
