Nanofertilizers in soil and nitrous oxide emissions

Fecha de inicio: 01/06/2022
Fecha de fin: 01/06/2025

Description

The low efficiency in the use of nutrients for fertilization has led to soil degradation, nutrient leaching, water pollution, high greenhouse gas emissions and poor production patterns. Consequently, nanofertilizers are presented as one of the alternatives with the greatest potential. Therefore, in this project, nanofertilizer formulations based on titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and zeolite will be synthesized and characterized. Acute phytotoxicity tests will be performed with terrestrial indicator organisms (Lactuca sativa) to verify the environmental risk. The effect of nanofertilizer application on fertilization efficiency, nutrient use, soil physical, chemical and biological characteristics, biomass production, crop spectral response, and assessment of nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide emissions will be quantified. A spin-off business model will be created to promote access to nanofertilizers for producers and technological support for fertilization models. Finally, a technological model will be consolidated for the application and distribution of nanofertilizers that will have the corresponding technical support and training.
