Nature-Positive Solutions for Shifting Agrifood Systems to More Resilient and Sustainable Pathways

The objective of this Initiative is to re-imagine, co-create and implement agri-food systems based on nature-positive solutions that equitably support local food and livelihoods, while ensuring that agriculture contributes positively to nature. This objective will be achieved through the following activities: Conserving agrobiodiversity: Develop nature-friendly solutions for the conservation of interrelated agrobiodiversity, water and soil systems, focusing on the nexus between agrobiodiversity conservation and the management of critical water and soil resources to reverse biodiversity loss; Manage biodiversity, water and soil Manage biodiversity and other natural resources in a sustainable and nature-positive way, working with smallholder communities to improve production systems, introducing solutions and innovations around biodiversity, water and soil management; Enable resilient restoration: Promote nature-positive solutions as cost-effective models for community land restoration, providing the evidence base and capacity to monitor and quantify ecosystem service delivery and maximize efficiency to help local restoration stakeholders establish innovative solutions that attract investment and break the degradation cycle; Create nature-positive recycling solutions: Educate a wide range of stakeholders on nature-positive solutions for a circular economy approach to rural waste management, ensuring that recycling is used effectively by SMEs to generate increased resources that benefit poor rural farm households and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
