National Fund for the Reactivation and Modernization of Agricultural Activity (Fonagro) in Guatemala.

In the context of the modernization process of the agricultural sector and in order to address the demands arising from the Agenda for the Reactivation and Modernization of Agricultural Activity, the National Trust for the Reactivation and Modernization of Agricultural Activity (FONAGRO) was created in 1994 through Governmental Agreement 133-94. FONAGRO was established to address the various issues faced by the national agricultural sector by providing financial contributions that enable the execution and development of productive projects in support of small and medium-sized producers. Its aim is to contribute to the reactivation and modernization of the agricultural sector. Since its creation, FONAGRO has been established as a financial instrument of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food - MAGA. Its purpose has been to assist different organizations in implementing agricultural, livestock, artisanal, hydrobiological, and productive infrastructure development projects, as well as providing training and technical assistance. This contributes to the creation and strengthening of local capacities for the development of the agricultural sector in the country, aligning with the actions of the MAGA Institutional Strategic Plan 2021-2026.
