Description

The Biodiversity Protection and Conservation Program is responsible for promoting and generating policies, strategies, laws, protocols, regulations, and guidelines for the promotion and regulation of the protection of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The program's results include: a) Technical proposals for the protection of RAMSAR Sites: The objective of this is the conservation of biodiversity through a territorial planning approach and the maintenance of existing environmental goods and services in the national territory, in compliance with Honduras' commitments as a member country of the RAMSAR international treaty. b) Compilation of data on the designated RAMSAR Sites: Guanaja Island Wetlands System, Southern Honduras Wetlands System, and Zambuco Lagoon Wetlands System (SH-LZ).,c) Development of technical and normative instruments in the field of biodiversity.
