Bioeconomy Observatory

Following the launch of the National Bioeconomy Strategy 2020-2030, the Government of Costa Rica proposed to have a digital platform that functions as a specialized knowledge center, as well as a platform for the promotion of business and investment opportunities in the Bioeconomy at the service of the academic, productive, governmental, NGO and civil society sectors. The Bioeconomy Observatory has the following objectives: Serve as a center of documentary and multimedia collection to consult resources and relevant information about Bioeconomy at national, regional and international level; Concentrate country indicators and offer spaces for interaction and collaborative work of different sectors, all around the theme of the Bioeconomy. The Bioeconomy Observatory is aligned with the principles and criteria defined by the International Sustainable Bioeconomy Working Group (ISBWG) led by FAO. With this, Costa Rica guarantees the standardization of its data collection and information generation processes, and the consequent international cooperation for the adoption of the Bioeconomy as a development model.
