Global Fertilizer Challenge

Fecha de inicio: 17/06/2022
Fecha de fin: 31/12/2023

Description

The Global Fertilizer Challenge will support innovative research, demonstrations, and training to help countries with high fertilizer usage and loss adopt efficient nutrient management and alternative fertilizers and cropping systems. It aims to strength food security and reduce agriculture emissions by advancing fertilizer efficiency and alternatives. The Challenge was launched by US President Biden, that invited countries to raise $100 million in new funding by COP 27 to help low- and middle-income countries address the global fertilizer shortages caused, in part, by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Observations

Global Fertilizer Challenge raised $135 million. This announcement exceeded President Biden’s goal, set at the June 17 Major Economies Forum, to raise $100 million dollars by COP27.
