Fecha de inicio: 29/09/2018
Fecha de fin: 28/03/2025

Description

The program aims to strengthen sustainable forest management and increase economic opportunities for forest-dependent people and businesses in selected forest landscapes. It seeks to maintain and increase the area of the forest landscape under sustainable management, following Mexico’s General Forest Law, which covers the management, harvesting, protection, conservation, restoration, and use of the environmental resources and services of a forest ecosystem. This effort is comprised of two main components. The first focuses on forest management, conservation, and business development, through incentives that help local communities and other landowners manage forests sustainably and increase economic opportunities derived from forest resources. The second component focuses on institutional development and facilitation support. It seeks to improve institutional capacity to implement forest management policies and provide technical and operational support to raise the quality of extension services and technical assistance to beneficiaries. The main beneficiaries include landowners and forest land holders, such as communities and ejidos with collective property rights, smallholders, and associations that have formed cooperatives.
