Sustainable Family Farming Modernization Project

Description

The development objective of the Sustainable Family Farming Modernization Project for Ecuador is to improve the incomes of small and medium agricultural households by supporting a more productive and climate-smart use of land and water. The project consists of three components. The first component, investments for climate-smart subprojects, consists of the following two subcomponents: (i) productive investments; and (ii) improved agricultural, water and soil management practices. The second component, capacity building for institutional stakeholders and beneficiary organizations, will focus on improving and supporting the outcomes of subproject investments under component one. The third component, project management, will support: (i) the operation of the central unit of the project executing unit (PIU) to be installed within the sub-secretariat of irrigation and drainage of the ministry of agriculture, livestock, aquaculture and fisheries (MAGAP) in Quito and; (ii) eligible costs and staffing related to the project in seven deconcentrated MAGAP offices (Zonales).
