Margarita Project: A Sustainable Milk Supply Strategy to Improve the Quality of Life in Jalisco

Fecha de inicio: 25/02/2019
Fecha de fin: 25/02/2022

Description

The project aims to improve the competitiveness and climate resilience of small dairy producers. Through the introduction of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence, the project seeks to integrate 422 additional producers into the dairy value chain, with the goal of increasing their productivity to 20.5 liters/cow/day and doubling their income. It is expected to market 126 million liters of milk, with 64% sold to Danone and 36% to other partners. The project also aims to increase Danone's supply from small producers to 20% and ensure 100% traceability of milk through IoT. By implementing these technologies, a reduction in CO2e emissions is anticipated. The expected results include the development of training manuals, the communication strategy to attract new producers, the training of 30 trainers and the training of 422 new producers in good practices. In addition, the Regional Livestock Union of Jalisco (UGRJ) is planned to be strengthened to lead the project and keep it sustainable in the long term.
