End Date: N/A

Description

National campaign led by the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) to strengthen prevention, animal and plant health surveillance and timely action by crop and livestock producers in response to risks associated with the 2026-2027 El Niño event. The initiative promotes continuous observation of crops and animals, timely reporting of pests, diseases and unusual health events, efficient use and protection of water resources, production planning based on agroclimatic conditions and the use of authorized seeds and planting material.

Observations

The El Agro Actúa campaign is implemented by the Colombian Agricultural Institute as part of the agricultural sector's preventive response to the 2026-2027 El Niño event. On 26 August 2026, ICA reported that the campaign had been providing information, field support and prevention activities for three months. On 23 September 2026, ICA reinforced the strategy through the message The countryside speaks to us, let us listen, emphasizing crop and livestock surveillance, early detection of pests and diseases, monitoring of water availability and timely reporting of animal and plant health events. The sectoral response is coordinated through a Unified Command Post led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with participation from ICA, AGROSAVIA and UPRA, among other entities. No specific budget exclusively assigned to the El Agro Actúa campaign is identified in the reviewed sources; therefore budget fields remain NULL.
