MAP: Market Access Program

Start Date: 1985
End Date: N/A

Description

A cost-sharing financial assistance program through which the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service, acting on behalf of the Commodity Credit Corporation, assists eligible U.S. organizations in developing, maintaining, and expanding commercial export markets for U.S. agricultural commodities and products. Eligible activities include consumer advertising, public relations, point-of-sale demonstrations, participation in trade fairs and exhibits, market research, and technical assistance. MAP supports generic and brand promotion and generally operates on a reimbursement basis.

Observations

The program began in 1985 and remains active. The aggregate budget covers two reference fiscal years: USD 200,000,000 for FY2026 and USD 450,500,000 anticipated for FY2027. FY2027 funding remains subject to final congressional availability. The amounts are denominated directly in USD, so exchange_rate = 1. The USD 650,500,000 total excludes private contributions, for which no verified aggregate amount is available.
