On December 5, 2025, Peru's Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation reported that the Agricultural Catastrophic Insurance for the 2025-2026 season was active in Ica with an allocation of PEN 1.2 million. Insurance coverage is provided free of charge and financed entirely by the State. The season runs from August 1, 2025 through August 1, 2026. Coverage includes crop losses resulting from floods, torrential rainfall, drought, frost, hail, pests, diseases and other adverse events. Maximum compensation increased from PEN 800 per hectare in the previous season to PEN 1,000 per hectare in 2025-2026. In Ica, the mechanism supports recovery of crops including cotton, pecans, grapes, maize, alfalfa, avocado and asparagus. At national level, the 2025-2026 SAC provides more than PEN 73 million to protect more than 2 million hectares across Peru's 24 departments. The PEN 1.2 million recorded here represents only the Ica territorial allocation and must not replace the national SAC budget.
