Climate Investment Project Portfolio under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement - Chile 2026

Observations

On January 29, 2026, Chile's Ministry of the Environment reported that bilateral cooperation agreements with Switzerland and Japan enable immediate implementation, beginning in 2026, of 22 climate mitigation projects involving more than USD 1.4 billion in investment. The portfolio operates through mechanisms associated with Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement and is supported by Chile's Framework Law on Climate Change No. 21,455 and the 2025 Roadmap for Carbon Pricing Instruments and Carbon Markets. Priority projects include energy storage, electromobility, capture and recovery of biogas from landfills and activities related to native forests. The projects are expected to reduce CO2 and methane emissions while generating co-benefits in air quality, biodiversity conservation, energy security, innovation and green employment.
