Community Drainage and Irrigation Project (CDIP)

The CDIP is a national program managed by the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA), an agency under the Ministry of Agriculture. It is a labor-intensive and community-focused initiative designed to support the maintenance of the country's secondary drainage and irrigation infrastructure. The project involves employing local community members to clear critical drains and canals in vulnerable residential and agricultural areas. Its scope extends across all administrative regions, with significant activity reported in Region 2 (Pomeroon-Supenaam), Region 3 (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), and coastal regions where low-lying lands are prone to flooding and water shortages
