Description
It is a strategic initiative aimed at modernizing Guyana’s water management infrastructure to combat climate-related flood risks. The project focuses on developing a comprehensive strategy—the Integrated Strategy for Drainage and Irrigation (ISDI)—that emphasizes resilience and nature-based solutions (NbS) to effectively reduce flood risks, particularly along Guyana’s vulnerable coastline
Observations
The project aims to identify at least two nature-based approaches alongside "hard" infrastructure enhancements to bolster flood resilience. It seeks to optimize irrigation planning to strengthen investment prioritization and resource allocation. It integrates gender equality and inclusive practices to ensure equitable benefits and targets 675,000 people across five administrative coastal regions
