Description

The Coastal Adaptation and Resilience (CARES) project is designed to enhance Guyana's flood resilience by strengthening its coastal defense systems. It focuses on rehabilitating existing sea defenses and implementing nature-based solutions, such as mangrove restoration, to protect against rising sea levels and storm surges.

Observations

The project is funded through the Guyana REDD+ Investment Fund (GRIF) and is a key component of the country’s strategy to adapt to climate change while maintaining its low-carbon development path.
