The application of ionizing radiation, specifically through genetic improvement techniques by mutation induction, is a tool that INIA of Venezuela uses to improve the resistance of musaceae (such as bananas and plantains) to diseases and pests, such as Fusarium TR4. These techniques seek to generate genetic variability in plants to obtain more resilient and productive varieties.
