BOLIVIA: The National Program to Support the Production and Marketing of Andean Grains

Description

The Program is part of the 2023-2025 Social and Economic Development Plan (PDES) and aims to increase the sustainable production and productivity of the aforementioned crops, linking them to the domestic and export markets. This will contribute to food security and sovereignty for the Bolivian population, generate income, and reduce poverty. The Program is implemented in 50 municipalities in the departments of La Paz, Oruro, Potosí, Cochabamba, and Chuquisaca with production potential for the aforementioned grains. The Ministry of Rural Development and Lands (MDRyT) is the responsible entity, and implementation is handled by three decentralized units: the Decentralized Institution for Food Security (Instituto Decentralizado de Seguridad Food), with the production and marketing component; the National Institute of Agricultural and Forestry Innovation (INIAF), with the technological innovation component; and the National Service of Agricultural Health and Food Safety (SENASAG), with the plant health component.

Observations

The Program is created by Supreme Decree No. 4008 with a budget allocation of Bs. 229,631,129 (two hundred twenty-nine million, six hundred thirty-one thousand one hundred twenty-nine 00/100 Bolivianos).
