Description
The National Alcohol Program (Proálcool) was a Brazilian program created in 1975 to promote the production and use of ethanol as a fuel, especially in automobiles, as an alternative to gasoline. The initiative sought to reduce dependence on imported oil and reduce polluting emissions.
