Description

The Melipona Network in the Peninsula brings together 20 organizations working in meliponiculture, composed of over 300 producers. The initiative aims to promote the production and consumption of Melipona honey and strengthen productive, commercial, and conservation capacities. Meliponiculture represents a key activity for biodiversity conservation and food sovereignty, as well as the preservation of ancestral knowledge. The initiative is supported by Slow Food, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and several academic institutions, and has contributed to the development of proposals for the protection and recognition of meliponiculture in public policies.
