Proyecto Guardianas Mayas de la Abeja Melipona – México (EN)

The project “Mayan Guardians of the Melipona Bee: Empowerment and Sustainable Economic Reactivation” is led by the Fundación Por una Nueva Solución (Educampo) with funding from the Alstom Foundation. It is part of the “In Favor of Women” program, which aims to empower rural and Indigenous women through self-employment, promoting equal opportunities and female leadership in cooperative enterprises (Educampo, 2025). Meliponiculture not only contributes to women's economic empowerment but also to biodiversity conservation in the Yucatán Peninsula. Each meliponary positively impacts around 314 hectares of native flora, strengthening ecological balance and preserving ancestral traditions (Educampo, 2025).
