Proyecto INCASBONO+ - GIZ Colombia (EN)

Fecha de inicio: 01/01/2024
Fecha de fin: 31/12/2024

Description

INCASBONO+ is a project aimed at increasing agricultural production and reducing the carbon footprint through the provision of inputs, training in the proper use of fertilizers, and strengthening of biofactories to produce organic fertilizers. More than 1,500 producers benefited from a methodology that includes financial education mechanisms and the use of digital tools. Five regions benefited: Huila, Meta, Antioquia, Bolívar, and Nariño (El Espectador, 2024). Biofactories were implemented on individual farms, and 786 coffee and cocoa producers were trained in the preparation of bioproducts and organic fertilizers, based on circular agriculture principles. Additionally, producers and extension agents were trained in biofactory processes through the Agrolearning educational platform of Solidaridad Network

Observations

The INCABONO+ project is part of a broader global initiative led by GIZ: INCAS Global+. The Sustainable Agricultural Supply Chains (INCAS) initiative is a global program aimed at developing innovative solutions to key challenges in sustainable agricultural supply chains. This includes, in particular, the protection of natural resources and the generation of income to ensure the well-being and dignity of farmers. It also seeks to strengthen trade partnerships with German companies to open up new market opportunities and ensure economic sustainability. The project aims to promote the sustainable development of rubber, coffee, cocoa, and palm oil value chains in the Colombian departments of Caquetá and Meta (GIZ, n.d.a). INCAS Global+ runs from 2019 to 2028. The program works closely with businesses, civil society, and government agencies. It addresses the structural causes of poverty and inequality while simultaneously tackling the global challenge of climate change. To this end, it acts where internationally operating companies dominate the market and have the greatest influence on supply chains, as well as at the production sites. The collaboration spans multiple countries and actors along the supply chains, from international companies to smallholder farms (GIZ, n.d.b).
