Productive Zoning Plan (POP) for the panela agro-industrial value chain in Colombia

Observations

The Strategy for the Zoning of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Production was conceived within the framework of the agricultural and rural development policy "A Countryside for Equity." This is a component of Pillar II: Productivity + Profitability = Competitiveness. It seeks to promote the targeting of production of the main agricultural value chains in the areas with the best productive performance (MADR, 2019). Policy objective: to promote the productive transformation of Colombia’s agricultural sector by generating the conditions and incentives that encourage production with lower risk and uncertainty for investments, thereby increasing the competitiveness of the sector’s value chains through production planning, cost reduction, reduced price volatility, promotion of innovation and technological development, and quality improvement in line with market demands (MADR, 2019)
