Fecha de inicio: 01/01/2018
Fecha de fin: 01/01/2030

Description

Cocoa, Forests & Peace (CB&P) is a public–private initiative aimed at promoting zero-deforestation cocoa production models that support the protection and restoration of ecosystems and forests linked to the value chain, foster sustainable livelihoods for producers, and help consolidate peace in Colombia’s territories (CB&P, n.d.).

Observations

Cocoa is prioritized as one of the key products for rural development in conflict-affected areas. In Colombia, 40% of cocoa production stems from alternative development efforts aimed at replacing illicit crops. It is grown in 28 out of the country’s 32 departments and produced by more than 65,000 families across approximately 200,000 hectares. According to UPRA, Colombia has around 4.8 million hectares suitable for cocoa production, highlighting the sector's growth potential. Colombia is the world’s tenth-largest cocoa supplier (CB&P, 2023)
