Local public procurement of food as part of the support for commercialization of rural producer organizations – ADR Colombia

Fecha de inicio: 07/12/2015
Fecha de fin: 01/01/5000

Description

The Rural Development Agency (ADR) implements Colombia’s agricultural and rural development policy with a territorial focus, as formulated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. This is achieved through the structuring, co-financing, and execution of Comprehensive Agricultural and Rural Development Plans. Additionally, the agency strengthens associative processes and contributes to improving the living conditions of rural populations, enhancing national competitiveness, and building a countryside with a future. Local public food procurement in Colombia is regulated under Law 2046 of 2020. It represents an opportunity to shorten the supply chain for government programs, enabling small-scale producers to access short marketing circuits. The law establishes conditions and food supply instruments requiring all public food supply and distribution programs to promote the participation of producers who belong to Peasant, Family, and Community Agriculture (ACFC) or their legally constituted organizations
