Paths to Prosperity Program

Start Date: 01/06/2023
End Date: 31/12/2029

Description

The program addresses systemic problems in production and supply chains, making it easier for small producers, providers and workers to integrate into global and local markets. In Latin America, it focuses on climate-smart production, especially in Colombia, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru, with products such as coffee, cocoa and palm oil, using carbon markets and payment systems for environmental services as incentives. To achieve this transformation, five key drivers have been identified that will guide the program's strategies across three fundamental areas: resilient production systems, inclusive service delivery systems and market connection systems. The adoption of sustainable practices and the improvement of working conditions are also important objectives to ensure a lasting impact. The program's strategies include training in climate-smart agriculture and deforestation-free production, strengthening technical assistance services and complying with regulations to access sustainable markets, such as EU regulations on deforestation.
