Fecha de inicio: 25/06/2024
Fecha de fin: 24/06/2026

Description

The project, executed by IICA with support from the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), seeks to support the countries of Central America (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama) and Mexico in strengthening their capacities to prevent, control and eradicate the cattle screwworm (GBG), a pest that has seriously affected the livestock sector, especially in the 1980s and 1990s. The project includes training technicians, producers, extension workers and communicators in risk management and effective communication. In addition, information resources aimed at the prevention, detection and control of the GBG will be developed, and outreach campaigns will be implemented through digital media and social networks. With these efforts, it is expected that the countries of the region will improve their capacities to confront this pest and reduce its economic impact, contributing to the sustainability of the livestock sector.
