“Chacras System” Program - Argentina

Fecha de inicio: 01/01/2009
Fecha de fin: 01/01/2030

Description

The “Chacras System” Program is an initiative developed by AAPRESID (Argentine Association of Producers in Direct Sowing) in Argentina, whose main objective is to generate spaces for applied research and collaboration between agricultural producers, technicians, companies, research institutions and academics. The program is structured in a network of “chacras” or agricultural production units where sustainable management practices are implemented and evaluated, mainly oriented towards direct sowing (no-till) and the conservation of natural resources, such as soil. Each “chacra” becomes an open-air laboratory, where new technologies and management strategies are developed and tested. The idea is that producers can validate in the field the knowledge generated by science and adjust practices according to the particularities of each region. In addition to its productive focus, the Chacras System is oriented towards sustainability, seeking solutions that improve productivity without compromising natural resources in the long term. Collaboration with institutions such as INTA and universities allows technological and scientific innovations to be better adapted to the local needs of farmers, promoting more efficient and environmentally friendly production.
