TeleGAN Project: Sustainability and Innovation in Livestock Farming

Fecha de inicio: 06/09/2024
Fecha de fin: 06/09/2028

Description

The TeleGan project aims to foster sustainable and inclusive livestock management in Mexico and Guatemala, focusing on the empowerment of women, youth, and indigenous communities. Over four years, this initiative will directly benefit 800 families in Mexico and 500 in Guatemala, promoting the resilience of small livestock producers to climate change. Using remote sensing technologies, satellite monitoring of environmental conditions will be facilitated, allowing communities to make informed decisions about sustainable livestock practices, such as rotational grazing, silvopastoral systems, water management, and improved animal feed. The project’s approach democratizes access to monitoring data, combining it with local knowledge to tailor solutions to the specific conditions of each region. Families will be trained to interpret this data, allowing them to select practices that improve the sustainability of their activities. Furthermore, the project advocates for the integration of inclusive strategies that ensure the active participation of women and youth in decision-making, recognizing their crucial role in agricultural development.
