Promoting Water Security and Climate Resilience in Transboundary Basins in Latin America and the Caribbean

Start Date: 01/10/2024
End Date: 01/10/2027

Description

The project seeks to foster cooperation and integrated management of transboundary water resources in the region. The main objective is to improve water security and climate resilience conditions, focusing efforts on four key areas: access to data and information systems, strengthening technical and institutional capacities, provision of multi-sectoral water planning and infrastructure tools, and access to innovative financing. Project activities include data collection and analysis, development of technical tools for water planning, assessment of economic and biodiversity impacts of wetlands, and design of legal frameworks and cooperation mechanisms for water management. In addition, the use of nature-based solutions will be promoted and access to green and climate financing for water infrastructure projects will be facilitated. The project also emphasizes gender inclusion and the participation of vulnerable groups, seeking to improve access to water and sanitation in rural and indigenous communities. The expected results include the preparation of technical studies, the holding of training workshops, and the creation of knowledge products that will be disseminated and published through various channels.
