Direct Support Program for the Creation of Rural Agri-Food Initiatives (CRIAR II)

The general objective of the project is to increase the income of small farmers in indigenous and peasant communities in Bolivia by promoting technologies that increase agricultural productivity and reduce vulnerability to food insecurity. Specifically, it seeks to increase the adoption rate of technologies that increase agricultural yields and the value of production, as well as generate capabilities that facilitate the formalization of associative groups. The project is made up of two main components: support for technological adoption and technical assistance and training. The first component includes the delivery of non-refundable financial support (bonds) that partially cover the cost of agricultural technologies selected by producers from a menu of eligible options, defined based on criteria of positive impacts on productivity and food security, positive environmental impacts. or neutral, economic viability and sustainability, capacity to adapt to climate change, adequate supply of suppliers and simplicity of verification in the field. The second component provides technical assistance in the use and proper functioning of the acquired technologies, training to maximize productive potential, including crop diversification practices and access to markets, and training in the formalization and management of associative groups. The CRIAR II project implements several key actions. Non-refundable vouchers are used to partially cover the cost of agricultural technologies, selected from a menu based on specific criteria. Technical assistance is offered to ensure the proper use of these technologies and improve production efficiency. In addition, training is provided in crop diversification, market access and associative management.
