Joint Bi-Regional Initiative "Living Soils"

Start Date: 03/05/2024
End Date: 31/12/2024

Description

The "Suelos Vivos" Bi-Regional Initiative aims to restore degraded lands, rehabilitate acidic soils, increase agricultural productivity, and enhance climate resilience in African agri-food systems. It focuses on 11 African countries across three agroecoregions: Guinea Savannah, East African Highlands, and Miombo Woodlands. The initiative draws from successful experiences in the Americas, such as Brazil's ABC Plan, and seeks to translate scientific knowledge into actionable policies that benefit nature, agriculture, and farmers.
